Built around 1910 and in the Cicero family since 1915, the Casona spent three years in restoration. It was not restored to be looked at — it was restored to be used. The handcrafted details are still where they were, and everything an event needs now hides behind them.

The history
By 1915, the year the family bought the house still under construction, Itzimná was already one of Mérida's most prestigious neighbourhoods. The henequen boom and the tram line that connected it to the centre made a secluded area the direction the city grew in.

How many people fit at Casona Cicero?
It depends on the space and the format. The Central Courtyard holds 150 for a seated wedding and up to 280 in runway format. The garden, between 100 and 150. The Hall, 60 to 70 at tables, 90 seated in rows and 120 standing.
Can you hold weddings there?
Yes. The Central Courtyard takes a wedding of 150 with a dance floor, a stage for musicians and dessert and catering areas. The house has its own history of family weddings going back to 1976.
Where is the house?
In the Itzimná neighbourhood, halfway between the centre of Mérida and the north of the city. The exact address is on the contact page.
Is there lodging?
No. Casona Cicero is a venue, not a hotel. There are hotels a few minutes away, around Paseo de Montejo.
Can the pool be used?
Yes, and it can also be decked over to become a dance floor or a runway. It is decided per event.
Can we film or shoot photography here?
Yes. The house has been a film location and a set for brand campaigns, and it is available for photo and video shoots.
What does it cost to rent the house?
We do not publish rates. The price depends on the space, the duration and the services, so every event is quoted separately. Write to us and we will come back with a proposal.
Is the house equipped for a large event?
Yes. It has a connection for a generator that backs up the whole house automatically, a dedicated 60 A three-phase supply for lighting and sound, new men's and women's bathrooms, and catering and service areas.
